Hiring The Wind Symphony

The Wind Symphony is comprised of brass, woodwind and percussion players from Southern New Jersey, Greater Philadelphia and Delaware. Our musical backgrounds are diverse and include experience in jazz, orchestral, rock, music theater, and chamber music. Most of the members hold music degrees. We are led by Dr. Robert J. Streckfuss, Professor Emeritus of Music at the University of Delaware.

The Wind Symphony performs regularly in the Delaware Valley and is for hire for both indoor and outdoor concerts. A variety of light classical and popular music is available from our extensive library. We can suggest a program, and can take requests in advance if the music is available (published for wind ensemble or band). Examples of past repertoire for pops or outdoor performances include:

Broadway: Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Guys and Dolls, West Side Story, Sound of Music, Camelot, A Chorus Line, the music of Irving Berlin and Cole Porter, Les Miserables, Evita, Sunset Boulevard.

Movie Soundtracks: Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, The Cowboys, Star Wars, Victory at Sea, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Far and Away, The Wind and the Lion.

Big Band/Jazz: medleys of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller; Malagueña, Artie Shaw’s Concerto for Clarinet; Blues for a Killed Kat.

Light Classical: Examples include: Handel’s Royal Fireworks, Rossini overtures, 1812 Overture; American Folk Song Suite.

British Band Music by Vaughn Williams, Holst, Grainger, Arnold.

Opera: Suites from Porgy and Bess, Carmen, Three-Penny Opera, Candide.

Ballet: Dance Episodes from Spartacus, Jerome Robbins medley.

Marches: National Emblem, Stars and Stripes and Sousa medleys as well as lively European marches such as Saint-Saens’ Pas Redoublé or the Radezky March; Olympic theme.

Fees are negotiable and depend on distance traveled, scheduling, and any investment we’d have to make in new music.
